Allo cuts ribbon in Kearney, starts with test customers in July

KEARNEY, NE — People in Kearney will soon have another option for how to get their internet service.

Allo hosted a ribbon cutting for its new location at 60th St. and 2nd Ave. on Tuesday. The Nebraska-based company offers fiber internet, phone and TV service and is building its network in Kearney. President Brad Moline says Allo will offer 2.3 GIG residential internet speed, which is among the fastest in the country.

“You say, ‘oh well who will ever need that?’ Well, just think back to 10 years ago and who would have ever needed 100 mbps? Now we’re talking about maybe going to 10,000 mbps, it’s a crazy time,” Moline said.

Allo started building its infrastructure in Kearney in October. It will launch for test customers in July and be ready to offer two select areas of coverage in mid-August. After that, Allo will turn up areas at 1,000-rooftop increments as building progresses.

Moline says the improved internet speeds will plunge Kearney into a gigabit society.

“Really, then the whole region is interconnected and the way people can communicate, do business, do learning, do healthcare is phenomenal,” Moline said.

Moline expects Allo to be available to the whole city by next fall. Allo is also building along a similar timeline in Grand Island.
