LINCOLN, Neb. -- A pile of cardboard was the original source of a fire in Lincoln that kept firefighters on the scene for approximately nine hours.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called to 440 J St. for the blaze.

Crews arrived at Green Quest Recycling to find a large pile of recycling product on fire outside of the warehouse building.

The fire was upgraded to a 2nd alarm for additional personnel and resources.

Three hydrants were accessed for water to pump to the two aerial trucks.

A skid loader and a payloader were used to move the recycle products to be extinguished. The debris was sprayed with an extinguishing foam product designed to blanket and smother the fire.

Firefighters remained on scene until 9:30 p.m. The Salvation Army arrived to supply snacks for the working firefighters.
