GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- One person has died following a weekend Hamilton County crash. 

Authorities said that the Nebraska State Patrol was investigating a crash that happened Sunday morning on Interstate 80 near Grand Island. 

Officials said that around 6:00 a.m. Sunday, and Aurora Police Officer was traveling east on I-80 near mile marker 318. 

Authorities said the officer saw the Toyota Corolla driving recklessly and unable to maintain its lane. After conferring with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Officer, the officer attempted a traffic stop. 

Officials said that driver of the Corolla, 18-year-old Angel Pojoy Domingo of Grand Island, turned around and began traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. 

Authorities said that the officer continued eastbound until finding a safe location to cross over to the westbound lanes of I-80. 

Officials said that shortly after, the officer came upon a crash that had occurred in the eastbound lanes. Domingo had struck a Lincoln Navigator head-on in the eastbound passing lane of I-80 near mile marker 317. 

Authorities said that Domingo was ejected during the crash and transported to a Grand Island hospital with life-threatening injuries. Domingo died Tuesday evening. 

The driver of the Navigator, a 40-year-old man from Oklahoma, was flown to an Omaha hospital. He is currently in stable condition with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. 

Authorities said there were four passengers in the Navigator at the time of the crash. All were treated for minor injuries. 

The NSP is investigating the incident. The crash is an ongoing investigation.
