LAUREL - The full court press paid dividends for the Lady Warriors and Bear boys as Crofton and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge split a double-dip Friday night.

The Warrior girls went right to the press from the outset, forcing five 1st-quarter turnovers and staking Crofton to a 10-point lead after one, 20 at the half and finishing with a 57-29 victory to go to 2-0. Three starters tallied double digits -- Ella Wragge (17), Alexis Folkers (15) and Ellie Tramp (13).

For LCC, Kinsey Hall topped all talliers with 13 and Mallory Eriksen scored 7. This Tuesday, Crofton hosts Boone Central while LCC (1-1) is at home against Homer.

After the boys' game was knotted 8-8 halfway through the 1st, the Bears used their press to turn up the heat and pull away, leading by 16 at the break and ending with a resounding 69-46 win. Jake Rath led the way for the Bears with 25 points and 15 rebounds, as Evan Haisch chipped in 19 points, with Carter Kvols and Deagan Puppe adding in 7 and 6 points, respectively.

 
 

Simon MacFarland was the Warriors' leading scorer with 16, and Jayden Eilers (12) and Roy Knapp (10) contributed as well. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (2-0) is at home to face Homer Tuesday. Crofton (1-1) hosts Boyd County Thursday.
