The City of Norfolk and Norfolk Fire Division released a Press Release regarding the Alter Fire in Norfolk on Wednesday.

The City of Norfolk and Norfolk Fire Division released a Press Release regarding the Alter Fire that happened in Norfolk on Wednesday.

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 

 

At 13:17 on August 18, 2021, the Norfolk Fire Division was dispatched to 500 Washington Avenue (Alter Recycling) for a car on fire. 

First arriving units found multiple scrap vehicles that were stacked on fire. There was heavy dark smoke and flames coming from them. Units were positioned to extinguish the fire and protect valuable property.

The fire was determined as accidental

Norfolk Police Division, Norfolk Water Division, Madison Fire, Hadar Fire, Battle Creek Fire, NPPD, Black Hills Energy, and Region 11 Emergency Management assisted the Norfolk Fire Division on scene. 

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
