BEATRICE – Beatrice Public Schools has hired a new Assistant Principal for the middle school.  Craig Stengel is originally from Pleasanton, Nebraska. Superintendent Jason Alexander said most recently, he has been in education in Arizona.

"He has been the Assistant Middle School Principal in Buckeye, Arizona for the past fifteen years...and is looking to get back to the good ole' State of Nebraska, so we're anxious to have him back."

Alexander said applications were narrowed down to seven candidates, and three candidates went through finalist interviews. Stengel will take the position held by Andrew Haake, who has been hired to move up to the Middle School Principal position this coming school year. John Jarosh is retiring at the end of this year, as Beatrice Middle School Principal.

The school board delayed action on the potential hiring of an Instructional Coach, mainly over wanting to look at more detailed costs and the need to fill other positions. Alexander said its possible the Instructional Coach could be hired from within current school staff.

Lincoln Elementary Second Grade teacher Pam McGhee
