Bridgeport going for conference tournament sweep Saturday
Bridgeport boys will play Mitchell, while the girls square-off with Gordon-Rushville.

BRIDGEPORT - Senior Bayler Sterkel went 8-10 from the three-point line and finished with 33 points in #5 Bridgeport's 85-61 victory over Bayard in the Western Trails Conference Basketball Tournament semifinals Friday night at Bridgeport High School.
Sterkel also went 4-5 inside the three-point, had two steals and blocked a shot in the Bulldogs' third win over the Tigers this season.
Junior Braxten Swires added 12 points and 3 assists, while senior Luis Garza chipped in 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks.
Top-seed Bridgeport (16-2) will play Mitchell for the WTC Tournament Title on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at Bridgeport High School. The Tigers (14-7) defeated Gordon-Rushville in the other semifinal on Friday, 67-50.
The Bulldogs edged Mitchell on Jan. 16, 65-68, in their only meeting this season.
Bridgeport will play Gordon-Rushville for the first time this season in the girls championship game at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Bridgeport High School.
The Bulldogs (17-3) raced out to a 37-13 halftime lead and never looked back in their, 70-32, victory over Mitchell Friday night.
Olivia Loomis-Goltl finished with a game-high 19 points, Brooklyn Mohrman added 16, Sydney Nein dropped 12 points, and Ruthie Loomis-Goltl ended with 10.
Makena Chambers and Angelica Gutierrez each finished with 7 points to lead the Tigers.
The Mustangs (15-6) defeated Morrill (15-4), 35-32, to advance to the title game.
