NORFOLK - A Norfolk man is facing charges after police say he sexually assaulted a woman.

The Norfolk Police Division says on Sunday, NPD took a sexual assault report from a woman.

The victim told police that 42-year-old Eric Blomquist of Norfolk sexually assaulted her and that she sustained injuries during the assault.

She told police that Blomquist placed his hand over the victim’s throat and squeezed, constricting her airway.

Authorities say a medical exam confirmed the victim’s injuries.

Potential witnesses were interviewed and confirmed parts of the victim’s statements.

NPD says Blomquist was also interviewed and at the end of the investigation.

Blomquist was arrested for First-Degree Sexual Assault and Strangulation.

He was housed at the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
