Kearney man sentenced to federal prison on drug and weapons charges

KEARNEY, Neb. - A Kearney man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after being convicted of federal drug and weapons charges. 

39-year-old Marcus Navejar was sentenced in connection to charges of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession of a Firearm in Connection with a Drug Trafficking Crime.

Omaha police discovered that Navejar paid $8,280 in drug money to a person at an Omaha hotel in June 2019, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Police arrested him outside the hotel and found him with 16 grams of meth and a handgun. He later admitted that he had dealt five pounds of meth in the weeks before his arrest.

It was Navejar’s second federal conviction on a drug-related weapons charge.
