BEATRICE - Got a brilliant idea for naming a trail?   The City of Beatrice would like to hear from you.

A newly constructed portion of the City’s hike/bike trail system connecting the Big Blue Water Park to Hannibal Park will be completed and opened to the public soon.  The concrete trail extends east of the water park to near the Beatrice YMCA, through the Flowing Springs area....to Beatrice High School, then to Hannibal Park.

Caspers Construction has been working on the project for the past several weeks.  The project is being funded mostly by a federal transportation grant, with a share of the funding from city dollars.

Officials have generally referred to it as the "Hannibal Park Trail", but say it could use an official name.

Residents were being asked to submit their naming ideas on the Beatrice Police Department's Facebook page.
