BEATRICE - A downtown mural project in Beatrice has been taking shape.

Main Street Executive Director Michael Sothan said the project is expected to be completed by the end of October.

The mural is locate on a Court Street wall, adjacent to the Holly Theatre….and will be the first outdoor mural for Beatrice. The overall project will cost about $8,000, with contributions received through last year’s Big Give Event in Gage County along with pledges from the City of Beatrice and the Gage County Foundation assisting in the work.

Sherwin Williams Company is providing material discounts for the project, which is the start of a downtown art effort in Beatrice.
The mural concept was designed and is being painted by Tyler Rinne.

Sothan says Main Street Beatrice also wants to bring back vintage-style advertising at various building locations and begin an alley art and string-lighting project.
