BEATRICE – An early Monday morning highway collision between a sport utility vehicle and semitrailer truck sent a Wilber woman to a Lincoln hospital.

Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies say the accident happened on Nebraska Highway 41 near South 25th Road, three miles south of Cortland.

Authorities say 33-year-old Danielle Powers, of Wilber was eastbound in a Dodge Durango.   Evidence at the scene and dash cam video showed the Durango crossing the center line of the highway, hitting a westbound semitrailer truck driven by 39-year-old Scott Schaefer, of Pickrell.

The collision caused the Durango to roll over, coming to rest in the south ditch.  Powers was taken by Lincoln Rescue to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  Schaefer apparently was not injured.  Both drivers were using safety restraints.

Cortland and Clatonia Fire and Rescue units also responded to the scene of the 6:30 a.m., collision.
