COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Chadron State football and volleyball fans are going to have to wait until spring to enjoy the Eagles because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Thursday postponed all fall sports until the spring except cross country and golf. Those 2 sports are exempt because they have very little physical contact.

Decisions on spring semester practice and competition schedules will be made and released in the coming weeks.

The RMAC President's Council says postponing the sports to spring fits with the NCAA Division II decision this week to cancel fall championships and gives the RMAC schools more opportunity to align their student-athlete safety measures with the latest recommendations.

The RMAC says it will continue to monitor local and national developments on health and safety, using that information along with guidance from the NCAA to make any necessary adjustments moving forward.
