WILBER, NE — A Crete man with a history of threatening behavior could spend more than a year behind bars for violating his probation.

Judge Vicky Johnson sentenced 26-year-old Izaih Romero to two years in prison and nine months of post-release supervision on Wednesday in Saline County District Court.  He was given credit for 132 days already served.

Romero originally pleaded guilty to terroristic threats and disturbing the peace charges after police say he shot an assault rifle at people at a state recreation area in 2016.  He was sentenced to three years of intensively supervised probation.

Court documents say Romero violated his probation several times by failing to appear for drug tests and being arrested three separate times since the original sentencing.

Romero has a history of mental health issues. He was held at the Lincoln Regional Center in 2017.

Romero has hearings on August 11 for cases involving misdemeanor assault, obstruction and criminal mischief charges.
