‘Leading Locally’ leadership program to launch in Schuyler

A partnership between Schuyler Economic Development and Nebraska Extension is designed to build leadership skills, discover facets of Schuyler and Colfax County.

SCHUYLER, Neb. - Leadership Schuyler, a partnership between Schuyler Economic Development and Nebraska Extension is designed to build leadership skills, discover facets of Schuyler and Colfax County, reveal community assets, and join in a locally identified project for Schuyler. ‘Leading Locally’ will identify, foster, and develop new leaders, including younger and older residents, to develop a continual pipeline of leaders. Class members will learn about various organizations, meet and learn from community leaders and become aware of the problems and opportunities that face our community.

There are eight days of learning, networking, exploration and evaluation. Sessions will be from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (ATTENDANCE is mandatory at all sessions) The cost of the series is $200.00. The days of learning and topics include, but are not limited to:

September 9, 2020 - Getting to know your community

October 14,2020 - From Vision to Action

November 11,2020 - My Leadership Style

December 9,2020 - Identifying Community Assets

January 13, 2021 - Attracting Newcomers to Schuyler and Social Media

February 10,2021 - Strengthening Membership

March 10.2021 - Building Strategic Partnerships

April 14,2021 - Follow up, Action and Graduation

Who should take this class – Open to residents of Schuyler and Colfax County, 18 years and older, interested in making a difference, engaging in the community and not afraid of challenges! Registration opens July 1, 2020 through August 15, 2020. Registration may be found on the Schuyler website www.schuylerdevelopment.net, or you can stop at the Homestead center for an application.

Leadership Schuyler is designed to be a unique combination of relationship-building, learning, problem-solving, civic engagement, and personal growth. The program structure truly reflects a product that motivates, informs, and connects individuals ready to take on the challenges and opportunities faced by our community, companies and families.
