Gering, NEB - Season three for the Western Nebraska Pioneers baseball team is set to begin on June 26.

This will mark year one for head coach Ryan Sires who takes over for Jimmy Turk. Turk guided the Pioneers to a championship and runner up finish during his tenure. Despite the season starting in a unique manner Sires still knows expectations will be big for his first year.

The preparations for the season opener starting at Oregon Trail Park Stadium in Gering as the team holding workouts throughout this week and next week .

The public will be invited using social distancing several players were in attendance during voluntary workouts today. For many of them they are excited to get back on the field of play.
