DENVER (AP) — More than 46,000 people filed for initial unemployment benefits in Colorado last week as coronavirus-related job losses continued. The state labor department says that brings the total number of claims since the economic shutdown began to just over 127,000.

The most recently available industry-specific statistics show that hotels and restaurant workers have been hit hard by the outbreak.

During the week ending March 21, workers in the accommodation and food services sector accounted for over a quarter of applications for unemployment benefits. The other top fields where workers had lost jobs were health care and social services, including dentist and chiropractor offices and daycare centers and personal services like nail and hair salons and barbers.
