Scottsbluff High will have a familiar face as their new principal

Pending approval at the March board meeting a familiar face will take over as principal of Scottsbluff High School.

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - Pending approval at the March board meeting a familiar face will take over as principal of Scottsbluff High School.

According to the school, current Assistant Principal Justin Shaddick will take over for Mike Halley beginning the 2020-21 academic year.

A Scottsbluff native, Shaddick graduated from Scottsbluff High School and has spent 14 years within the school district. Over the last decade he has been the assistant principal at the high school.

During his time thus far at the high school, Shaddick has been responsible for implementing the career academies and career and technical programming. He has been a consultant on these topics for school districts in Wyoming and South Dakota.

Shaddick was named as the 2018 Nebraska Career Education Administrator of the Year and was also the recipient of the 2016 Nebraska Career and Technical Education School of the Year. He also worked to help get nearly $950,000 in grants through the Nebrasak Career Education Innovations and Developing Young Talent funds.

Scottsbluff Public Schools Superintendent Rick Myles states Shaddick is a passionate leader and brings a wealth of relationships that have been fostered over the years. 23 high school staff members and 20 community members participated in the selection process.

Outgoing Principal Mike Halley is heading to Valentine Public Schools at the end of the current academic year.
