City Manager submits resignation letter, sets retirement date

SIDNEY - Ed Sadler's last day as Sidney City Manager will be Feb. 28. 

Sadler, who was named the new city manager in Feb. 2016, submitted his official letter of resignation to the Sidney City Council on Tuesday. 

He and his wife, Rochelle, will remain in Sidney until the end of the school year. Rochelle teaches at North Elementary. They plan to move to Williamsburg, Va. in June. 

Before moving to Sidney, Sadler was the city manager in Webster City, Iowa. He also served as an assistant city manager for Aspen, Colo. He took over for long-time Sidney City Manager Gary Person, who resigned in August 2015.

The city council hired a professional selection firm to search for Sadler's replacement. They held an executive session Tuesday to continue reviewing candidates. 

The city manager serves as the city's chief executive officer and is responsible for managing day-to-day operations.
