TECUMSEH - The Wilber-Clatonia football team held Johnson County Central to 93 total yards, the defense forced six turnovers, and the Wolverines defeated the Thunderbirds 49-6 Friday in Tecumseh. Johnson County Central has never beaten Wilber-Clatonia.

“We knew that we would be in for a battle, and Wilber showed once again why they are a team to contend with in C2," Thunderbirds Head Coach Gabe Meints said. "There is just not a lot of words that one can say after a game like that other than we just need to play better."

The Wolverines ran for 215 yards and were led by Mitchell Thompson's 91 yards. He scored three times.

"We need to be more physical, we need to play to the whistle, catch kicks on the run, pass better, catch the ball, and the list goes on," Meints said. "Where we go now is we forget about this game and focus on the remaining three."

Uriel Cabrales rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown for the Thunderbirds.

Wilber-Clatonia improves to 4-2 and will be at Syracuse (0-6) on Friday. Johnson County Central drops to 3-3 and will host Freeman (0-6) Friday.
