FALLS CITY – A resignation letter from Sheriff Don Pounds is on the agenda for Tuesday’s Richardson County Board meeting.

The sheriff reportedly submitted a letter on Saturday, July 6. County commissioners will consider accepting the resignation at 10:30 a.m.

Sheriff Pounds, who was grew up in Falls City and joined the Nebraska State Patrol in 1984, publicly stated in May that was considering resigning over issues of deputy pay and new records management software that would be shared with Falls City Police.

Following a June 25 county board meeting, Pounds said he was optimistic about a $3 an hour pay raise for deputies.

Pounds is a 1984 graduate of Peru State College where he had a double major in business administration and industrial management technology.

He has previously been deputized by the FBI and DEA and has experience as a polygraph examiner.

The board will also review the CRIMES software program and installation at the Law Enforcement Center.
