Kentucky family seeks return of CWS jersey stolen from car in Omaha

Lori and David Elliott and family were celebrating Sunday mass at St. Cecilia's Cathedral on June 16 when someone broke the window on their Honda Pilot and stole a baseball bag.

Inside the bag was their college son Adam's baseball jersey from his 2017 appearance in the CWS as a member of the Louisville Cardinals.

It's a family tradition — almost a superstition — that Adam's older brother, Cameron, wear his younger brother's old jerseys to baseball games. The family brought the jersey to Omaha because Louisville made it back to the series this year. Adam is a pitcher and outfielder for the team.

Mom is kicking herself for not moving the bag out of view — it was on the floor in the front passenger side of the SUV.

"I should have put it in the back," she said, noting that the thief left alone the four golf bags that were in the back. 

"All I want is that jersey," she said. "If we can find it, that's the main thing."

Not the Kate Spade wallet that was in the bag, not the cash or credit cards.

If the family can get the jersey back, they already have a plan for it.

Adam is a junior this year, so that means he has one more shot at returning to Omaha to play ball if Kentucky makes it back to the CWS.

"Wouldn't it be nice if (Cameron) could wear it next year?"
