Beatrice Elected Officials Approve Property Sales

BEATRICE - The City of Beatrice is selling some property under arrangements that forgive some of the purchase price, if developers go forward with plans for the land.
The City Council, Monday night, agreed to sell property at 501 South 9th and 913 Bell Street to E-Z Farms, Inc. City Administrator Tobias Tempelmeyer says the property located at 9th and Scott was donated to the city and an old house was demolished, there.

A similar arrangement between the City and E-Z Farms, Inc. is reached on the property at 913 Bell.

The city council also approved vacating and selling part of an alley in west Beatrice, to Sandra L. Johnson, for $850. The alley is located between Garden and West Court, and between Graham Street and the vacated Abbott Street. The city will retain a utility easement in that area.
Elected officials have also approved an agreement with Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad to lease area west of Second Street, between Grant and Ella. A beautification project is planned there.

The lease would include a strip of land 50 feet in width. The lease cost would be a one-time payment of $600, if the city agrees to close two railroad crossings at First and Grant and First and High Streets.
By consent vote Monday night, the council agreed to add 45 working days to the contract to finish a Bell Street paving project and approved a final payment of over $18,000 to Lottman Carpenter Construction, for the Standing Bear Trail Phase Two project, completed last year.
