Leadership Beatrice Class Installing StoryWalk, at Trailhead Park

BEATRICE - Members of a Leadership Beatrice Class are spearheading installation of a Story Walk project, at the downtown Beatrice park, this week.
The project, previously planned for Riverside Park, was moved to Trailhead Park across from the Gage County Museum, because of ongoing concerns over flooding.

Katie Humble is one of the seventeen members of the Leadership Beatrice Class that brainstormed and came up with the Story Walk idea…something that is designed to be enjoyed by all ages.

Wednesday, the support posts and concrete anchors for the story walk pads were being installed. Members of the leadership class plan to have the project fnished by next week's Homestead Days celebration. The Beatrice Public Library will update the story walk on a quarterly basis.

This Saturday, the Leadership Class members will install the final displays. Humble says the project can serve as a quality-of-life effort that can help bring families together.

The Beatrice Public Properties Department was assisting the class with the project, on a site that long ago, was the former location of a Union-Pacific train station.
Donors to the Story Walk project included Beatrice Community Hospital & Health Center, the BCH Foundation, Garnett Investment Strategies, Neapco Manufacturing, the City of Beatrice, Norris Public Power, Beatrice Educational Foundation, the Gage County Foundation, Security First Bank, First State Bank, Andy and Lynn Carothers and Paul Hay.
