South Sioux City police officer, suspect injured in gunfight

SOUTH SIOUX CITY - A South Sioux City police officer was shot after an early morning gunfight. At 2:08 a.m. this morning, South Sioux City Police say that “an Officer involved shooting took place at Los Amigos 1313 Dakota Ave, South Sioux City, NE. A person at that location reported seeing an individual in possession of a firearm. The first responding South Sioux City Police Officer made contact with a male outside of that business. Shortly after that contact, shots were fired. The South Sioux City Officer and male both sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital by the South Sioux City Fire Department. This is an ongoing investigation and no other details will be released at this time.”
