Jay was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago (and he’s a CUBS fan!), but has lived all over the country, making Nebraska his home since 2001. At the age of 8, he won a contest on a local radio station, and had the opportunity to go to the studio to pick up his prize. Once he walked into the studio, he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. (Small world story: The dj that was on the air that day ended up being Jay’s co-worker 20 years later!).

While serving in the Navy in the 80’s, Jay spent a few years stationed at Miramar, California’s famous “Top Gun” Naval Air Base, fixing F-14 Tomcats and E2-C Hawkeyes. While there, he attended a small, poorly funded trade school for broadcasting. He first cracked the mic in 1986, and has worked in San Diego, Chicago, and Jacksonville, as well as a few other stations in Northeast Nebraska. Jay was with US92 from 2003-2013, and returned to us in 2020. He now also serves as midday host on our sister station, 94 Rock.

Jay is the father of two grown daughters and a stepson, and grandfather of three. He lives in Norfolk with his best friend, Skye The Poogle. He is a cancer survivor, having his thyroid removed in early 2021. He loves classic country and classic rock music, with George Jones and REO Speedwagon topping his list of favorites. He tried moving away in 2020, but it only took a few months until Nebraska started calling him back. He loves living here, and he loves his listeners. He says, “The listeners have always been my favorite part of working in this industry.” And you can surely tell when you hear him on the air!
