Electrical fire destroys trailer home in Terrytown

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — An electrical fire destroyed a trailer home in Terrytown Saturday afternoon, prompting a multi-agency response and several hours of firefighting operations, according to the Scottsbluff Rural Fire Protection District.

Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 3:38 p.m. on Jan. 17 to a reported structure fire in the area of South Street. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from beneath a trailer home. Officials said the fire had extended into an area under the trailer that was difficult to access, complicating suppression efforts.

Due to the challenging location of the fire, mutual aid was requested from the Gering Fire Department to provide additional personnel to help access and extinguish the flames. Firefighters worked for several hours to fully control the fire and prevent further spread.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. However, officials said the trailer home was deemed a total loss.

An investigation later determined the fire was electrical in nature. Fire crews remained on scene for several hours, with all personnel clearing the area at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Scottsbluff Rural Fire Protection District officials expressed appreciation to the agencies that assisted during the response, including the Scotts Bluff County Communication Center, Regional West EMS, Gering Fire Department, Scottsbluff Police Department, the Nebraska State Fire Marshal, City of Terrytown maintenance crews, Nebraska Public Power District and Black Hills Energy.
