SIDNEY -- The Sidney School District Board of Education recognized the December Students of the Month Monday. 

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. 

These criteria are: 1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning. 2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project. 3. Outstanding Contribution to the class. 4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school. 5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled. 6. Service to school. 

The December Students of the Month were recognized at the January 11 board meeting. 

 December 2025 Students of the Month: 

 7th grade – Ryan Davis: Ryan Davis is an excellent student that consistently turns in quality work. This has resulted in the Straight A Honor Roll. He conscientiously chooses to lead by example and encourages others to do and be their best. Ryan is responsible and takes that responsibility seriously because he takes the initiative to get the job done. He is courteous, kind and respectful. This 7th grade leader is the son of Don and Lucy Davis. 

8th grade – Javen Escobar: Javen Escobar has been selected as Sidney Middle School’s 8th grade Student of the Month for December. Javen is known for his unwavering determination and commitment to excellence. He approaches every task with focus and persistence, refusing to give up until he has done his very best. His strong work ethic consistently sets a high standard in the classroom. In addition to his academic dedication, Javen is a natural leader. He works well with others, encourages teamwork, and often steps up during partner and group activities to ensure everyone succeeds. His respectful attitude and perseverance make him an outstanding choice for Student of the Month. Javen is the son of Levi and Jeanny Escobar. 

9th grade – Katy Larson: Katy is a wonderful student and person. Katy is always upbeat and engaged in class. She is a hard worker and an excellent classmate. Katy asks meaningful questions and is willing to help her peers. She participates in volleyball, track and dance class. Katy is the daughter of Kyle and Anne Larson. 

10th grade – Liam Dornbier: Liam is a polite and thoughtful young man. He excels in his academics with meaningful work. He is adventurous and has been recently accepted into the Rotary Youth Exchange program to be placed in Germany next school year. Liam participates in boys golf. Liam is the son of Leasa and Mike Dornbier. 

11th grade – Rylan Misegadis: Rylan is an outstanding student who truly exemplifies what it means to be a Red Raider. She treats everyone with kindness and consistently demonstrates strong leadership both in and out of the classroom. Rylan  participates  in FFA, National Honor Society,  volleyball and basketball. Rylan is the son of Justin and Courtney Misegadis. 

12th grade – Olivia Ford: Olivia Ford – Olivia is an excellent student, taking many college level courses. She continually strives to improve and has been working exceptionally hard this semester. Olivia participates in cheer, HOSA, National Honor Society and dance class. Olivia and the daughter of Nicholas and Haley Ford.
