HASTINGS, Neb. – A familiar face is now leading the City of Hastings’ Development Services Department.

Kevin Kubo is stepping into the role as the city’s Development Services Director.

Kubo previously worked for the city of Hastings as the Chief Building Official from Nov. 21, 2021 to Nov. 21, 2024; before he took the Chief Building Inspector job for the City of Fremont.

He also previously worked for the cities of Alliance as well as Sidney.

Kubo is a Chadron native and graduated from Chadron State College with a major in accounting and a minor in economics.

Kubo was interviewed by City Administrator Mark Funkey, Engineering Director Lee Vrooman and Hastings Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Shannon Landauer.

“We are excited to have Kevin back in Hastings,” Funkey said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge from his many years of experience in the industry and his previous time in Hastings. Kevin will continue to help development in the City move forward.”

Kubo returns to Hastings to replace former Development Services Director Chad Bunger, who resigned on May 2 to work in a private sector position in Oklahoma.
