HASTINGS, Neb. – Chad Bunger is departing his position in Hastings for a new out-of-state role starting next month. 

Bunger is stepping down as the Hastings Development Services Director after just under two years in the position. 

The city posted the position's job listing on social media Monday morning, and NCN confirmed with a city spokesperson that Bunger's last day is May 2. He will take a private sector job in Tulsa, OK.

Bunger took over the Hastings Development Services Director role on June 5, 2023.

In his time, Bunger was part of several big developments and advancements in Hastings, including most recently guiding the update of the city's comprehensive plan, which was approved by the Hastings City Council on March 24.

Bunger organized a series of meetings for property owners affected by the proposed annexation areas in late summer/early fall of 2023. The City Council approved the final reading for the annexations on Feb. 27, 2024.

He also closely supervised EngageHastings, the city’s online public engagement platform that was introduced during the Hastings City Council meeting on Feb. 26, 2024.

The city of Hastings has begun the search process for a new Development Services Director. The position is open for applications on the city's website.
