ODESSA, Neb. (KSNB) - No injuries were reported after a Union Pacific train collided with a stalled semi-truck at a railroad crossing in Odessa on Sunday.

Video of the incident shows the train striking the cab of the semi. According to Union Pacific, the truck driver had exited the vehicle before the collision, and the train crew was unharmed.

The crash occurred near Highway 30 and Odessa Road. Deputies with the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to assist.

BCSO Sgt. Brad Hall said the semi driver had stopped on the tracks because vehicles in front of him were halted at the crossing, which leads directly to Highway 30.

The truck then became stuck due to a mechanical issue and was struck by the eastbound train.

Union Pacific issued a reminder to the public about safety procedures at railroad crossings. Drivers are urged to exit their vehicle and move to a safe location if stuck on the tracks. They should then locate the blue emergency sign posted at the crossing, which contains a phone number and a unique crossing identification number. This information allows dispatchers to stop train traffic in the area.
