Dixie Darlene (Walker) Bohlen

Hasting's resident Dixie Darlene (Walker) Bohlen, 87, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, at The Pines Nursing Home, Blue Hill, NE.

There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be made to the family for designation at a later time. A service to honor her life will also be held at a future date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Dixie was born October 8, 1937, to Fred and Waunita (Keeler) Walker in Hastings, NE. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in May 1955. Dixie was baptized at First Christian Church in Hastings in 1949 and later became a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE in 1960. On August 30, 1956, she married Duan Bohlen at First Christian Church in Hastings.

Dixie worked at Kerr Chevrolet as a bookkeeper and switchboard operator. She also worked at Weyerhauser Co. where she did the payroll and invoices. After her sons were born, Dixie was lucky to be able to stay at home where she enjoyed watching her boys and grandchildren playing games and activities. Dixie enjoyed taking her sons on vacations, having breakfast with friends, playing bridge, and going to concerts. She loved Husker football.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Herman & Sophia Bohlen; brother, DeWayne Walker; nephew, Christopher Walker; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Dale & Joyce Bohlen; grandson, Drew Bohlen; and daughter-in-law, Barb Bohlen. SURVIVORS: Husband: Duan E. Bohlen – Hastings, NE
