Palmer woman dies in Merrick County crash

A Nebraska woman has died following a single-vehicle accident in Merrick County.

CENTRAL CITY, Neb. — A Nebraska woman has died following a single-vehicle accident in Merrick County.

The local Sheriff’s Office says it happened at 6:00 Tuesday morning on Ormsby Road about eight miles west of Central City. Investigators believe a 32-year-old man from Palmer was driving west when his pickup crossed the road and entered the south ditch. It eventually hit an embankment and rolled over.

The driver suffered minor injuries. His passenger, 23-year-old Hailee Vlach of Palmer, died at the scene.

According to a news release, airbags didn’t deploy and neither person was using a seatbelt.
