Freshman Ella Tinsman has stood out from the moment she first donned a Hastings High uniform.

In her first year of high school softball, Tinsman has excelled as a pitcher and as a batter. In September, she pitched in 13 games, struck out 116 batters and tallied four complete game shutouts. On Oct. 1, she managed a walk-off single to show that her strong play will continue.

Tinsman has helped her Hastings team compile a 22-7 record and the fourth-most wild car point in Class B.
