Nebraska girls club soccer team wins national championship

WICHITA, Kan. - Nebraska Select 18G won the US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup on Tuesday, in Wichita, Kan.

Select is the only year-round competitive soccer program for high school-aged boys and girls west of Lincoln. The team led by former UNK soccer head coach Mike Munch went undefeated in pool play to earn the #1 seed for bracket play. Select defeated 1776 United (PA) 6-2 in the semifinals on Monday morning to advance to the championship where they defeated Lakeshore United FC (WI) 4-1.

Nebraska Select 18G is the first-ever National Presidents Cup Champion from Nebraska. The team consists of players from area high schools including, Columbus High, Grand Island Northwest, Grand Island Senior High, Kearney High and Norfolk High.
