GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A developer in Grand Island is proposing to build more apartment buildings at an already existing development.

Legacy 34 Apartments is building seven more apartment buildings. The development is located west of Prairie View St. and north of Husker Highway.

Owner Scott Reef is adding 154 more units and one carriage house to what he refers to as the “Disney of neighborhoods.” According to the owner, they are building a village that includes parks, a downtown, restaurants, coffee shop and more.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, members approved the rezoning of a little more than seven acres of property for platting as part of the development. It will change from a low density residential zone to a residential development zone.
