HASTINGS, Neb. — Power is restored to south Hastings after an outage Friday morning.

A city spokesman says Hastings Utilities identified the outage at 8:54 a.m. The source of the outage was a failed epoxilator, which is an electrical insulator, which caused a chain reaction of failed electric connections in the southeast part of town. The outage affected 151-250 customers in an area from South Baltimore Ave. and J St. to East E St.

Four crew members were able to restore power to part of the outage area by 9:30 a.m. and had it restored to the full area by 11:00 a.m.

The KHAS Radio transmitter site was affected by the outage and the station was off air for some of the morning.
