GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A local nonprofit in Grand Island is celebrating 20 years since its foundation.

Multicultural Coalition Executive Director Raul Arcos-Hawkins, who joined the organization in February, said that they are now more in tune with the needs of the community but other than that the mission remains the same.

“Still welcoming newcomers, and then assisting them with any assistance that they may need," Acros-Hawkins said. "Or providing those services they may need and gain welcoming them into the community."

Some of the services that the organization provides are healthcare services, housing and shelter, employment and legal guidance.

This year alone they have impacted 178 families and through their services they have reached over 1700 people.
