Fatal accident in Hall County leaves one dead, police say

A central Nebraska woman is dead following a two-vehicle accident.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A central Nebraska woman is dead following a two-vehicle accident.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the crash Tuesday night near Doniphan.

According to preliminary investigation, a car driven by a 29-year-old man, of Alliance, was traveling southbound on Highway 281, north of Cedarview Road, when it was struck from behind by another car that was driven by 79-year-old Diana Dieken, of Hastings.

Dieken was transported to a local hospital where she died. 

Deputies said that the male driver was uninjured and wearing a seatbelt, but Dieken reportedly wasn’t at the time of the accident.

The investigation remains open.
