GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A Grand Island man was arrested after driving without a license and a vehicle pursuit.

Officers said they saw a green Sedan traveling westbound on E 18th Street near Illinois Avenue without any plates. The officers were able to identify Ezequiel Barraza Anguiano as the driver of the vehicle.

Police said they knew Anguiano had a revoked driver's license status and were able to confirm the status after checking his record. They tried to do a traffic stop but Anguiano reportedly fled at a high rate of speed and entered the parking lot of Colonial Square Apartments.

According to authorities, Anguiano reportedly continued through the parking lot at a high rate of speed and there were individuals and kids playing outside. Anguiano then exited the parking lot onto N Vine St and into the opposing alleyway at a high speed. Children were reportedly playing near the east and west sidewalks, about 30 feet from the alleyway.

Officials said Anguiano did not seem to care for property or the children playing where he was driving. The traffic stop ended and Anguiano was found later on. Anguiano reportedly could not provide insurance for the vehicle.

According to the report, Anguiano was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, driving during revocation, fail to display plates, no proof of insurance, and fail to yield right of way.
