NORFOLK --The Norfolk Arts Center revealed a new exhibit this week for their #NACInktober2021 artists.

"I told the artists -- it was so fun getting to the finally meet the artists in person because the whole campaign had been virtual," said Elley Coffin, program coordinator.

Coffin said the Norfolk Arts Center is displaying these drawings which artists in the area created during Inktober; an international drawing movement where artists created designs based on daily prompts in October.

She reached out to the original organizers for permission to showcase their local participants, and then started getting the word out. Coffin noted, it's part of a bigger movement where she's trying to connect Northeast Nebraska artists to each other and grow a community.

"The coolest thing about Inktober is the prompts are one word[...] they're hoping the artists identify with the word in different ways and every single one of our artists did that," Coffin said.

For example, one artist -- Francine Fox who teaches at Wayne State College -- interpreted the words using digital art.

Catch each of the unique nine artists at the Norfolk Arts Center until December.

Coffin noted that the museum is searching for sponsors to be able to award their artists or help them with art supplies. If interested, please reach out to the center.
