Lourdes Central Catholic advances to second round of Class D1 Playoffs

In the first round of the Class D1 football playoffs, Lourdes Central Catholic would take on Thayer Central in a Thursday night match up.

NEBRASKA CITY-In the first round of the Class D1 football playoffs, Lourdes Central Catholic would take on Thayer Central in a Thursday night match up. 

The Knights would take control of the game early on, and would use a balanced attack to defeat the Titans.  Blake Miller, Joe Kearney, and Aiden Aldana would be a three headed monster for Lourdes Central Catholic, and the Titans would not be able to find a way to stop them as the score at halftime was 55-0 in favor of the Knights. 

Lourdes would score once more in the second half and Thayer Central would score two touchdowns late in the game which resulted in a 57-14 win for the Knights. 

In the total team performance, another key contributor along with Miller, Kearney, and Aldana would be Zach Tesarek. 

Miller leads the team in rushing this year with 899 yards on 86 carries and 19 touchdowns.  He also leads the team in passing with 1500 yards, 29 touchdowns, and has a 75% completion rate. 

For the season Kearney has 49 carries for 376 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Aldana has 37 carries for 370 yards and 4 touchdowns. Tesarek has 12 receptions for 286 yards and 9 touchdowns. 

Lourdes Central Catholic now moves to 9-0 on the season and will face Sutherland in the second round of the playoffs.  The game will be held in Nebraska City at 4:30pm and will be carried on Otoe County Country 1600 AM/105.5 FM
