Bridgewater sentenced for Tecumseh assault
Sons, who had been wounded by gunfire, have court hearings in November
By News Channel NebraskaTECUMSEH – A Brownville man accused of trespassing in an incident where his two sons were wounded by gunfire in Tecumseh has been sentenced to a year behind bars.
Kenneth Bridgewater, 53, was sentenced to jail and ordered to pay $800 in restitution for the attack in May of 2019 at the Tecumseh residence of Raymond Brown. He was also sentenced to two years probation and was fined $500 for misdemeanor assault.
Court records say Bridgewater’s sons, Kolton and Levi, were wounded by gunfire near the doorway of the north Fourth Street residence. The men had been employed together and prosecutors say there were hard feelings after a layoff. Brown told investigators he opened the door to tell the men to leave and warn them he had a gun.
Brown told investigators he saw a knife and started shooting as the men pushed through the door.
Levi Bridgewater, 22, and Kolton Bridgewater, 28, are scheduled to enter pleas on Nov. 1 regarding a burglary charge.
