COLUMBUS, Neb. -- Jenna Meister, RN, with Columbus Community Hospital’s acute care and intensive care units, recently received the hospital’s DAISY Award for the third quarter of 2021.

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates nurses’ extraordinary clinical skills and compassionate care. CCH is a DAISY Award Partner and recognizes one of its nurses with this special honor each quarter.

Meister was nominated by Dorothy Bybee, CCH vice president of patient care services.

In her nomination letter, Bybee wrote: “Jenna always cares for patients with such compassion, but I recently witnessed this in detail.”

Bybee then described a specific instance in which Meister comforted a grieving family after a patient’s death.

“Jenna was patient and kind during the entire event, never showing anything but kindness and care,” Bybee wrote. “Jenna is the perfect example of a nurse who loves her patients, cares about her patients and is there to support them during times of grief."

Meister was honored with an award presentation on Tuesday.
