Hunter Haughton Signs With Peru State Football

Peru State football coach Casey Creehan recently announced that Hunter Haughton (Tecumseh) signed his national letter of intent to join PSC football this fall.

(Peru, Neb.) – Peru State football coach Casey Creehan recently announced that Hunter Haughton (Tecumseh) signed his national letter of intent to join PSC football this fall.
 
Haughton, son of Ryan and Lynn Haughton, graduated from Johnson County Central (JCC) High School in Tecumseh. Hunter was a three-sport athlete as he participated in basketball, football, and track and field.
 
The 5'10 quarterback was a key player for the Thunderbirds after transferring from Fullerton High School for his senior season. He earned the following honors: three-time All State Honorable Mention, three-time All district, All Heartland, All Sunland, Academic All State (2019), and was named JCC's Marine Corps Student Athlete of the Year (2021). Hunter was also a part of Huskerland Prep All 8-man team and a member of the 8 man All Star team.

Haughton was the state's leading scorer his junior year with 247 total points while at Fullerton. He had 66 career passing TD's with 3,250 career passing yards.
 
This past month, Haughton represented the Thunderbirds in the state track meet in the long jump.
 
Haughton plans to major in education, possibly special education, with a minor in coaching at Peru State. In addition to his athletic award, he will be receiving a cooperating schools scholarship.
