NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -The sheriff of Lincoln County is working with the Deputy attorney outlining resolutions regarding important issues.
“It may be symbolic but it is very important to all of us,” said Lincoln County Commissioner District #2 Kent Weems.
As more debates about gun control continue in Washington, our local elected officials are working to address deep-rooted concerns.
“The board and I took a position today to support the second amendment, the right to bear arms,” said Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer.
Local leaders want people to know that they are upholding the constitution.
“We stand with them in defending the second amendment and all that entails. We cannot allow that to be infringed upon,” said Weems.
Gun control legislation continues to be in the news.
“Anytime they are trying to make certain guns illegal and take that right away, the law-abiding citizens of the United States are not the problem. It is the criminals with the guns that are the problem,” said Sheriff Kramer.
The Lincoln County Commissioners also addressing the 30 by 30 legislation presented by the Biden administration. The board mentioned during the meeting that the best stewards of the land are the taxpayers who are already taking care of the land in the best way possible.
“So why would the federal government think that we need to set aside 30% of productive land in this country when we only represent 1/6 of the landmass?” asked Weems.
Sheriff Kramer added, “We don’t want our farmland and our waterways controlled by the government and taking out of production indefinitely.”
