Community Memorial Healthcare named top 100 hospital again
Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville, was recently named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States for the fifth consecutive year.
MARYSVILLE, KS - Community Memorial Healthcare (CMH), Marysville, was recently named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States for the fifth consecutive year. Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, this is the 11th annual recognition program to honor outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX®. Since achieving the national Top 100 recognition in 2016, CMH has been recognized every year since due to their commitment to delivering the best patient care and outcomes while remaining financially efficient.
“Repeatedly achieving this recognition is very gratifying, and validates our daily commitment to providing the best health care possible to our community, while maintaining an efficient and effective facility,” said Curtis Hawkinson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO). “I am extremely pleased that our staff is again being recognized for their commitment to outcomes, patient safety and the patient’s experience here.”
Over the course of the last 11 years, the INDEX has grown to become the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Based entirely on public data and utilizing 36 independent indicators, the INDEX assesses rural hospitals across eight pillars of performance, including market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and financial efficiency. The INDEX framework is widely used across the nation by independent rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints and state offices of rural health, which provide access to INDEX analytics through grant-funded initiatives. Hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility had one of the 100 highest overall scores among all Critical Access Hospitals nationally.
“The Top 100 program continues to illuminate strategies and innovation for delivering higher quality care and better outcomes within rural communities,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We are delighted to be able to spotlight the efforts of these facilities through the INDEX framework.”
The Top 100 Critical Access Hospital award comes on the tail of three other important award recognitions for the year 2020 – CMH also was recognized with the Women’s Choice Award for Best Hospitals for Emergency Care, was a 2020 Performance Leadership Award program top quartile performer for Quality from the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health’s (NOSORH), and received a 5-star rating (the highest given) by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Hospital Compare.
“These recognitions overall speak volumes of the work our staff does – committing each day to providing quality, trusted care locally when it comes to positive outcomes, comfort, value, and the fiscal efficiencies of our programs,” said Hawkinson. “We might be located in a rural area, but our staff continually delivers top-rated care so our patients don’t have to travel from their home communities for the treatment they expect and deserve.”
