STANTON, NE — Two people are injured after their motorcycle collided with a deer early Saturday morning.

Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger says deputies responded to the accident on Highway 24 about four miles west of Stanton around 1:00 a.m. Saturday.  He says the motorcycle was heading westbound and was driven by 52-year-old David Burgess.  The collision ejected Burgess and his passenger onto the road and into the south ditch.

Both people were transported Faith Regional Health Services for treatment.  Sheriff Unger says helmets were in use and prevented more serious injuries.

Stanton Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.

The deer was killed in the accident.
