Nebraska Business Donating Alcohol that Inmates will Use to Make Sanitizer

A local company is teaming up with the Nebraska Department of Corrections to make sure there is no shortage of sanitizer.

LINCOLN - A local company is teaming up with the Nebraska Department of Corrections to make sure there is no shortage of sanitizer.

It was announced on Monday that Omaha-based ethanol producer Green Plains Inc. is donating industrial alcohol to the state that inmates will then make into saniztizer.

Starting Tuesday Green Plains is shipping its first load of industrial alcohol, which is commonly used for cleaners and solvents, from its York plant.

Becker say that Green Plains makes 55 million gallons of alcohol a year and more than 150,000 gallons a day.
