NORFOLK - Orphan Grain Train in Norfolk is getting 1,000 pounds worth of donations, thanks to a partnership with the Hy-Vee Corporation.
A half-pallet of peanut butter was donated on Tuesday to Orphan Grain Train in Norfolk as part of a partnership with Hy-Vee and Hormel Foods.
Representatives from both Hy-Vee stores in Norfolk attended the announcement.
Tim Bruzek is the store director for Hy-Vee West in Norfolk says the company enjoys giving back to the community.
“We love to have these partnerships, especially locally in town here and obviously there’s a big need for the food here in the community. So anything we can do to help with that, we’re all about it.” Bruzek says.
He says there's enough peanut butter to make around 16,000 sandwiches.
Vice President of Orphan Grain Train in Norfolk, Grant Schmidt, says even though the organization is known for world-wide aid, helping out locally is just as important.
“We’re known for our international outreach, but this allows us to show the community that we’re very much interested in our neighbors as well.” Schmidt says.
Schmidt says the donation will be distributed to preschools, shelters and food banks in the Norfolk area.
